Bearing Capacity Behavior of Skirted Foundations on Unsaturated Soils

One of the most important factors for designing a safe foundation is amount bearing soil capacity and allowable settlement according to type structure. Therefore, in geotechnical engineering, aim improve foundations' many ways, some which are expensive, other section difficult implement sites. Skirted foundations consider as an ideal solution cost-wise tolerance by reducing materials installation time. At present, there several applications, including offshore platforms, bridges, turbines, oil installations, high-load facilities. This paper investigates behavior carrying skirted through experimental models on sand. To examine effect various saturation conditions, ratios length width footing base at different relative densities conditions saturations dry, saturated, partially saturated soils considered. It was found that magnitude enhances with increasing footings all cases. The increase performance ratio increased linearly 1.5 depth (D/B) then decreased test results after this point.
